Permits and Zoning
The City of Silver Lake has adopted the Minnesota State Building Code to govern any applicable construction activities in the City. In addition to the Building Code the City has also adopted Zoning regulations to govern land use issues within Silver Lake.
A five (5) member planning commission has been appointed by the Silver Lake City Council to oversee land use activities in the City. The Zoning Administrator is designated with the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance and serves as an advisor and clerk to the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the lower level of the Auditorium and the meeting is open to the public.
Building Permits are required for nearly all construction activities and can be obtained at City Hall, 308 Main St. W, Silver Lake, MN 55381, by calling (320) 327-2412, or emailing cityhall@cityofsilverlake.org.
